We're coming up on a Sagittarius 3rd Quarter Moon on March 14, 2023.
All quarter moons, whether 1st or 3rd, carry a certain internal tension because the Sun and Moon square each other, carrying an invitation to your Inner Sun and Moon (Your Outer Self and Inner Self) to find common ground and work with the tension to grow (instead of growing frustrated or more tense.)
3rd quarter moons in particular carry an energy of assessment and integration. Around the time of a 3rd quarter moon, the energy is wonderful for assessing what's happened so far in a moon cycle and determining which lessons and experiences you want to integrate into your being and which you would rather leave behind.
To integrate means to combine something with another thing to make a whole. To blend into a unified whole.
As we move through the moon's phases, feeling the energy, living it out in our lives, we will come across parts and pieces of ourselves that we've rejected or repressed. We will find pain and ugly and strange and scary. We'll be triggered by things outside of us....but in reality, we're being triggered by things within ourselves that our external reality is reflecting back to us.
As we integrate lessons that we learn, we also come to understand the parts of ourselves that we maybe wish didn't exist. In facing and acknowledging (and even loving) the frightening within ourselves, we integrate. We become more whole.
Both 1st and 3rd Quarter moons trigger internal stress that is designed to help us progress. To prod us into further development of our souls. To keep us from stagnating in our dis-empowering (yet comfortable) ways. It can be incredibly uncomfortable to feel the tension of quarter moons, but it's oh-so-necessary for our progression and development as offspring of Divinity.
So, how do we integrate the lessons we're learning? How do we integrate the parts of ourselves that are currently separate?
Well, a lot of that depends on you personally. There isn't really a one-size-fits-all, step-by-step process that has every component perfectly suited to all people equally at all times and in all circumstances. At least, I've never come across such a process.
However, awareness seems to be a pretty universal first step.
Followed by action, deeper understanding (or wisdom), and release.
Your natal chart and solar return are excellent for gaining awareness of how you personally operate, what lessons you're here to learn, what strengths and challenges you've got to work with.
And journaling, especially journaling done in a way that taps into the subconscious mind, is an amazing tool for self awareness, processing, and gaining deeper understanding.
Journaling and an understanding of astrological energies combined with intuitive healing work can facilitate a process of awareness, creation, insight, and--ultimately--a personal rebirth. Over and over again.
This, to me, is the underlying process of the moon's cycle and of our very existence. With your personal charts, a journaling practice, and intuitive work, I can support you in facilitating your evolution. Your progression.
Because my greatest wish for you, dear friend, is for you to become aware, to act with intention, to deepen your awareness into understanding, and to experience these things over and over until you are reborn into a "new creature," fully integrated and whole.
So, what does it mean when we experience a Sagittarius 3rd Quarter Moon?
Let's talk a look at each component involved:
Moon: emotions, inner-self, intuitive focus
in
Sagittarius: philosophy, big picture thinking, generosity, good will, abundance, grandiosity, fun/care-free enjoyment, organized sports, organized religion, the Professor
is in a seeming conflict of values (that's actually a conflict of strategies) with
Sun: outer-self, external focus, ego
in
Pisces: spirituality, fantasy, imagination, intuition, openness, the Unseen, metaphysics, faith and doubt, agape (the love given by and received from the Divine), dissociation, merging, oneness
which looks like internal tension prodding us to assess and integrate the lessons we want to take with us into the next moon cycle. These lessons are likely to relate to how your philosophies and world-view colors your spiritual experiences.
