On April 5, 2023, we'll be experiencing a Libra Full Moon.
Full moons tend to provide an atmosphere of external opposition that shows up in order for us to learn how to balance and work with opposing energies. During a full moon, the sun and moon are 180 degrees apart from each other, inhabiting signs that exist on the same axis. This particular full moon means that the sun (representing identity, focus, spark of life) is in individualistic, self-motivated, fiery Aries while the moon (emotional tides, inner self, energy body) is in the peace-loving, relationship-focused air sign of Libra.
As we approach this full moon, you may find yourself internally longing for peace and balance while external circumstances and stressors may be pushing you to take a stand or forge a new path. You may have intuitive insights on how to maintain an inner sense of peace and sovereignty while navigating relationships. No matter how the full moon energy of Aries and Libra shows up for you personally, there will be some sort of tension between your identity as an individual and your emotions/intuitions around your relationship to other individuals.
The key to weathering this full moon energy well is to remember that too much Aries energy--too much individualism, too much passion, too much action-taking without enough consideration and perspective--will burn you. On the other hand, too much Libra energy--too much peacekeeping, too much passivity, too much thought and consideration for everyone except yourself--will suck you dry. This full moon is a gift and opportunity to learn by experience how to find balance between all things individual and relational.
I recently heard about the concept of no one truly knowing us. This is the gist of the concept: no one on earth knows who we are. They don't even know the version/facet of us that we present to them on a regular basis. They only know the concept of us that they have made up in their own minds, based on their prejudices, wounds, and perceptions. They don't know us; they know their perception of us, which is an entirely different thing. They know a construct that they created.
Whether this concept is absolute truth or not, we each of us "see through a glass darkly" when it comes to other people, and even in how we see ourselves.
As you take a moment to ponder this idea, I hope it will encourage you to have greater empathy for others as well as for yourself as we all wrestle with the tension between our various identities. We none of us have the full story.
